SHRM Specialist, Membership and Marketing in Alexandria, Virginia
The Specialist, Executive Segment is responsible for supporting and executing tactical initiatives that directly align with SHRM’s affiliate, HR People + Strategy (HRPS) for the executive segment membership acquisition, retention, and engagement strategy. This includes successfully incorporating HRPS’s member value propositions into all related membership campaigns, ensuring incremental rates of response and prospect conversion. The role also supports HRPS programs, including affiliate initiatives, coordinating and handling event marketing and tradeshow requirements, and work cross-functionally to further enhance HRPS’s membership capabilities, member value and brand equity across the profession.
Execute tactical membership-related initiatives to achieve HRPS’s executive membership acquisition growth targets, as well as enhancing member retention and engagement metrics.
Implement membership campaigns that leverage HRPS’s value propositions, compelling benefit messaging and proven conversion techniques, to achieve incremental response/ROI.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify cross-selling and prospecting opportunities across current and potential new members in strategic functions, leveraging market research data and Persona targets.
Design, project manage and execute the overall marketing campaign tactics to include, but not limited to: messaging; collateral design production; mailing schedules; mailing list segmentation; print and digital advertising campaigns; lead generation; e-mail marketing; outsourcing of projects with vendors; survey execution; and vendor selection.
Perform data tracking and digital/DM/email campaign performance reviews with a consistent and optimization-driven analytical focus. Present findings and improvement recommendations regularly.
Optimize prospect conversion strategies with own print and digital membership initiatives, and leverage internal creative resources to deliver ad placements, SEO/SEM, and interactive campaigns while ensuring message and tone aligns with the HRPS brand and strategy.
Support and execute tactical initiatives that directly align with HRPS’s conference strategy.
Contribute to HRPS tradeshow events, member engagement and communications, executive segment marketing and reporting requirements.
Provide support in the development of Membership and Brand and Member Value presentations and project requirements, and ensure compliance with budget management goals.
Fulfill acquisition and retention targets of growing membership conversion rates by expanding house file databases, providing effective feedback to improve response rates on print, and creative and digital advertising campaigns.
Participate in Agency partner engagements to deploy digital acquisition marketing programs.
Support all membership activities including maintaining the member database; fulfillment, renewals, and acknowledgments; and marketing offers to members.
Maintain and update the online presence including the website, organization’s app and social networks such as Twitter and LinkedIn.
Execute tactical conference marketing-related initiatives to help in achieving HRPS’s conference goal targets.
Serve as primary project manager for all conference marketing campaigns and ensure projects are executed within budget
Develop and implement marketing plans for small meetings.

Bachelor’s in Marketing or a relevant field.
4 years of professional experience and/or training in direct marketing, association marketing or marketing communications, to include proficiency in lead generation, collateral development, database segmentation, website analytics, customer relationship management systems, copywriting, proofreading and editing, e-mail marketing, analytics and SEO/SEM marketing.
Experience with email platforms, email reporting, Google Analytics, and Google Ads.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organization skills with attention to details.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Ability to build consensus.
Strong project management skills with the ability to work on cross-functional team projects.
