The Specialist, Exam HR Content is responsible for providing HR subject matter expertise throughout the exam development process. This position ensures that SHRM certification exam items accurately represent HR practice as defined by the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (SHRM BASK) and are formatted to comply with SHRM certification style guidelines. In addition, this position engages in project work focused on the development of ancillary testing products or exam related content offered by SHRM.
Review, edit, and proofread SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP item content to ensure alignment with the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (SHRM BASK) and adherence to SHRM certification style guide standards.
Contribute test-development and/or content expertise on various item review projects to improve and/or enhance items for increased performance and sustainability.
Manage the upkeep of the SHRM Certification Style Guide and other exam development training and/or support documents.
Function as the resident SHRM BASK expert.
Make presentations and/or authors, co-authors, or edits publications on topics related to the SHRM BASK or on SHRM certification in general.
Collaborate with the SHRM Education Team on various exam development related projects as needed.
Work with teammates to support their job-specific duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Organizational Psychology or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
At least three (3) years of professional experience in HR required preferrable as an HR generalist.
Experience working with or supporting large-scale testing programs or in test- and item-development (including volunteer SME work) preferred.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self-directed with a continuous-improvement mindset.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and meet assigned deadlines.
Advanced level Microsoft office skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Working knowledge of testing, item development and/or basic psychometric principles a plus.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential required.
SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred.
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%
