The Brand Communications Specialist provides support in all things SHRM Brand and help position SHRM as thought leader at the intersection of employers, employees and the economy. As a member of the Brand Team, the specialist promotes the brand through messaging, creative storytelling and brand activations at SHRM events with a demonstrated understanding of SHRM’s audience and strategic vision.

The Specialist, Brand Communications also supports the brand team in creating tactics that support the overall brand strategy from support at tradeshows, brand messaging, project management, analytics and reporting. Activities may include but not limited to integrated marketing programs, commercial programs, SHRM events, and thought leadership around the brand.

Your Day:

  • Works collaboratively with the brand team in tactical implementation that supports the larger brand strategy.

  • Create/prepare various communications and execute brand projects and deliverables including but not limited to: logos, branded assets, branded event support, digital project support, website updating, and integrated marketing campaigns.

  • Lead on corporate updates to SHRM.org and use analytics to support product advertisements and placements.

  • Contributes to social media content development, influencer outreach and supports brand communication plans.

  • Works on brand efforts across the “Branded House” – including state council, chapters, and products.

  • Draft compelling messaging that delivers clear benefits to external and internal stakeholders and conveys the brand voice.

  • Write, organize photo ops, identify key influencers, and create various materials in support of the organization’s brand goals at events.

  • Provide data to support consumer insights and analytics for the SHRM Brand.

  • Supports the SHRM brand on product launch tactics, brand themes and initiatives from initial launch strategy through promotional and post-launch follow up to achieve brand visibility, and new audience introductions of the brand.

  • Think of out-of-the-box ways to activate against key events, social media, influencers, event/pop-up activations, partnerships, email and new channels to maximize membership applications and new revenue opportunities for SHRM – driving the brand experience across new and existing audiences.

  • Measure and drive demonstrable business results and ROI through brand building.

  • Apply great attention to detail with presentation, written and verbal communications skills.

  • Project management including timelines, cascades, and budgeting.

  • Other branded communications projects as assigned.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 3 years of related experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized and ability to juggle multiple tasks with competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work as part of a team with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of social media.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit; talk and hear, use hands to type, file, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

  • Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.

Work Environment

  • Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • This job requires occasional travel 0-10%.
