SUMMARY
SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through a variety of tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team specific projects, tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers. The Speakers Bureau & Programming intern will handle operating responsibilities for the day-to-day administration of the Speakers Bureau while guaranteeing the smooth and timely execution of ongoing processes and transactions. This is a paid internship at a starting rate of $20.00/Hour.
Responsibilities:
Assist with booking Chapter and External speaker request.
Assist with Communications Team on press releases for new speakers and speaker announcements
Provide data and reporting for internal publications & reports
Register Speakers for booking for internal and external events
Assist with Speaker Ready Room Onsite (upon approval)
Assist with prioritizing, finalizing, reviewing a high volume of proposals
Assist with speaker acceptance and logistics for numerous Preconference Workshops, Concurrent Sessions, and Spotlight Stages
Assist with data migration to the Salesforce platform
Carry out division-specific tasks/activities as assigned by the supervisor throughout the duration of the internship
Manage deliverables and provide regular updates
Education & Experience Requirements
Preferred fields of study: pursuing a bachelors in marketing, business, or other related fields
0-3 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and analytical skills
High levels of commitment and initiative
Ability to successfully work in a team
Willingness to learn sales and negotiation skills and strategies
Ability and willingness to follow directions
Professional demeanor
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook

Physical Requirements
· Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
· Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work environment
SHRM does operate under a hybrid work schedule and will require you to be in SHRM’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays will be working remotely.
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
