The SHRM Editor-Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) provides high-value resources to SHRM members by finding, reporting, writing, editing, curating and packaging online news, content and e-newsletters focused the wide range of issues and activities related to DE&I in the workplace.
Write and edit high-quality, well-informed articles about DE&I for an audience of current and prospective SHRM members.
Commission and edit content from freelancer writers, as well as manage a freelance budget.
Edit daily news articles for style and content.
Curate e-newsletter for areas of expertise and/or responsibility.
Post content online and update/maintain landing pages, resource pages and other digital collections with articles that are relevant to our audience and representing SHRM’s responsibility towards our members and employers.
Stay up-to-date with all DE&I news and trends. Report on developments, find experts and create content that helps readers understand the importance of workplace DE&I policies, practices, and initiatives (by SHRM and other organizations), and use case studies to illustrate those efforts.
Collaborate across SHRM departments and business units to support SHRM marketing, communications and strategic initiatives and business objectives.
Travel to SHRM conferences to provide news coverage for attendees and subscribers.
Cover other events and conferences within discipline areas.
Cover events, develop and edit content in emerging topics that may go beyond current scope, and are relevant to the evolution of our function.
Minimum five years of news reporting, writing, and editing, preferably in business publishing.
Experience reporting on DE&I issues and interviewing subject matter experts in that field.
Experience developing a beat by developing a keen understanding of an industry and/or specialty; developing sources; finding and utilizing freelance writers; identifying trends; and providing timely news coverage and analysis of relevant issues and events.
Excellent news writing skills and ability to communicate complex ideas in words and graphics.
Excellent editing skills.
A high comfort level with learning and using new technologies to help tell a story.
Excellent in finding and recognizing newsworthy material to develop into content.
Resourceful; ability to lead and organize freelancers and other contributors
Good interpersonal skills, with strong ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues throughout the SHRM organization.

Let Us Know if You Have:
Experience in publishing online content using website content management systems. Knowledge of DE&I and other HR issues.
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Travel Required: Moderate 20-30%
