The Director, Website Strategy & Optimization is responsible for SHRM’s web ecosystem, including definition and implementation of a digital product strategy that drives revenue, customer engagement, lead generation all centered around a customer-centric strategy. The Director will be a highly analytical thinker with the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders and departments to deliver top-notch digital experiences. This position will transform SHRM’s advocacy, brand, business, marketing and membership goals into the digital activities that will achieve them.

Your Day:

  • Develop SHRM’s website strategy and architecture detailing how each piece of the ecosystem (website, social assets, etc.) will contribute to SHRM’s objectives.

  • Analyze and report on website performance and optimize products based on results and opportunities.

  • Identify opportunities for advocacy, business, marketing and membership teams to use digital technology to enhance their engagement strategy.

  • Ensure alignment of digital product vision with key stakeholders and teams

  • Work with development team to plan sprints along with project milestones; revisit requirements and priorities as needed.

  • Conduct asset audits to map SHRM’s digital presence and assess the effectiveness of each asset.

  • Provide POV regarding the use and effectiveness of existing and emerging technologies.

  • Stay abreast of the digital marketing industry, bring best practice ideas and benchmarking, especially as it relates to mobile, CRM, and emerging technologies.

  • Mentor and coach staff/teams.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Digital Marketing or IT related field; or equivalent relevant experience

  • At least ten (10) years of digital product management experience with several in leadership capacity.

  • Proven success defining and executing product strategy and plans that meet business objectives.

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile development process

  • Experience working effectively with creative teams, developers and other key stakeholders

  • Superior analytical abilities and exceptional project management skills with high attention to detail

  • Knowledge of website design, html, search and social advertising, URL architecting, email marketing, and e-commerce.

  • Some experience with enterprise level email platforms, Google Analytics (or other online management tools) platforms, and social platforms.

  • Experience managing staff, project teams and external vendors/consultants.

  • Exemplary organization skills and ability to direct multiple projects and meet time sensitive deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of basic marketing principles, such as target segmentation, category, value proposition, positioning, and brand strategy.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task efficiently and respond to ongoing requests in a timely fashion.

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment.

  • Basic knowledge of CMS platforms such as, Sitecore, Drupal, SharePoint and WordPress.

  • Understanding of online measurement platforms.

  • Expertise of new and emerging media channels and technology and ability to keep up with changes.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong relationship management and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.

  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work Environment

  • Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%
